There’s a growing need for foster families in the Texarkana area. In Bowie County alone, nearly 80 children and teens are in foster care — but only 13 foster homes are available.
4Kids4Families, the organization managing foster care in the region, says more local families are needed to keep kids close to home. Research shows children placed nearby often spend less time in the foster system.
The group hosts a free virtual “Foster Care 101” session every third Tuesday to help new families start the process, which typically takes six to eight months.
