The Texarkana Texas Fire Department will resume routine weekly testing of the city’s 13 outdoor warning sirens.

Officials say the testing helps ensure the system is ready during severe weather or emergencies. A full one-minute siren test will sound on the first Wednesday of each month at noon. On the remaining Wednesdays, a short “growl” test lasting a few seconds will be used to confirm the system is working.

Testing will be skipped if severe weather is possible.

Residents are encouraged to stay informed by signing up for Hyper-Reach alert system, which provides emergency notifications by phone, text, or email across both Bowie and Miller Counties.
