A former Texas High School library aide has been indicted on multiple felony charges in Bowie County. A grand jury Thursday charged 36-year-old Cynthia Christina Gerschwiler with two counts of sexual assault of a child and one count of child grooming.
Investigators say Gerschwiler met the 16-year-old boy while working for the Texarkana Independent School District, but the alleged abuse occurred after she left her job. Court documents say she provided the teen with rides, food, and gifts, and communicated with him through explicit text messages.
The case came to light after the teen reported the situation to a relative. Gerschwiler has been jailed since November on a $500,000 bond. The case will be heard by Judge John Tidwell.
