A former Telford Unit prison employee in New Boston has been indicted in Bowie County for allegedly having sex with a 26-year-old inmate serving a 30-year murder sentence. Miriam Storey is charged with violating the civil rights of a person in custody, a felony punishable by two to 20 years in prison. Court records allege the incident happened January 28. An arrest warrant was issued Friday, and Storey’s arraignment is set for next month. The case is being handled by the Texas Special Prosecution Unit, which investigates crimes in state prison facilities.
