The Texarkana Arkansas Police Department has welcomed a new member to its K9 Unit.
K9 Machi and handler Officer Jackson Thornell have completed intensive training and are now fully certified in narcotics detection, building searches and patrol operations.
Police say Machi will help support patrol officers, improve officer safety and assist in locating illegal drugs and suspects during high-risk situations.
The department says adding a second K9 team was made possible through community support and a partnership with Commercial National Bank.
