County officials say all outdoor open burning is prohibited until further notice. Open burning includes any fire where smoke goes directly into the air rather than through a chimney. Banned activities include fireworks, burn barrels, campfires, fire pits, yard and brush burning, and open-flame grilling. Residents are also urged to avoid parking on dry grass, prevent trailer chains from dragging, properly extinguish cigarettes, and use caution with equipment that could create sparks.
Officials say everyone can help reduce the risk of dangerous fires by following the burn ban.
