A countywide burn ban is now in effect in Bowie County due to unusually dry and windy conditions.
County officials say the Bowie County Judge issued the ban yesterday morning. In addition, the Texarkana Fire Marshal has prohibited all outdoor burning for the next seven days, through January 5.
All previously issued burn permits are suspended during this time. Residents are asked to avoid any outdoor burning until the ban is lifted to help prevent wildfires and keep the community safe. Miller County is not under a burn ban as of today.
